I'm curious what you guys think about religion and spirituality. Does your religion align with your beliefs about your soul, Is one influenced by the other, what do you think about combining the two, etc?
This is pretty short, but I'll start rambling if I say anything else.

Well, I am Christian.(<<I use that name/term very lightly, most "Christians" would say that I'm going to Hell) And I used to be rather naive when it came to religion before, but since I had learned about my nature, it has helped me reshape my beliefs. So I would say that it can be influenced either direction. However, I see it more as a realization of personal truths as apposed to an actually shaping of beliefs from nothing.

I was raised Roman Catholic. While I still occasionally attend mass I no longer consider myself Catholic. My beliefs don't mesh with the church on the whole, but I still feel community and prayer is important, even if I'm not following the same catechism, I'm praying for the same thing as the person next to me.

I was brought up in a very broken and varied home, some times athiest, sometimes pentecostal, other times methodist, Roman Catholic, and Muslim. Howver, my beliefs do not directly accord with any of the forementioned, I know what to be true and I follow that. There is truth in all, just as all are misconstrued.

Every religion is right... and wrong. All at the same time... Something a friend once told me.

I was raise Christian, starting at like, 6, but my family, after quite a few distasteful events thanks to the churches we were in, we left church altogether.
My parents are still Christian, jut don't attend service. Me on the other hadn, I just find, personally, something extremely wrong with religion. Creeps me the hell out. ; ;
I'm interested in studying magic and such, but haven't so much as touched it yet, because I can't find anything that doesn't involve deities and such... lol

Wicca though often times is associated with The Goddess, doesn't necessarily involve deities. I know many who are strictly nature based, looking to the spirits as apposed to a god and/or goddess.

I don't identify with any particular religion, so trying to relate spirituality with a religion seems hard for me personally.

I'm a little wary of "religion" that includes the otherkin community as well (as I DO see it as a religion, or at least on the road to becoming one) I think the individual exchange of ideas is far more important than docturine or the persuit of "one truth" Whether I talk to a christian, otherkin, muslim, jew, whomever, it doesn't matter. So long as a healthy exchange of ideas is done, and be both walk away with things to think about, I'm happy. I was raised roman catholic and I've met some real losers in the church and some awsome people who, if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be the person I am today. So my spirituality really isn't linked to religion but the good people who have opinions and who are not affraid to share them with me.

I hear that. It's wearying when theology gets in the way of a good discussion.

And that's not to say you can't have a good theological discussion, though more often than now people don't know enough about the other religions to be able to compare. For example, my family (who are mostly right wing baptists) argued that Buhddists are going to hell becuase they worship Buddah as a god which is WRONG. And when I explained what Buddah actually was, they were like "oh" so that's the real problem with arguing theology. Either party more likely than not doesn't know enough about religion to make it a worth while discussion.
