I disagree on the thought of absolutes. There are always acceptions, ironies, and grey areas. Its so hard to talk in absolutes when the information is subjective, and filtered by human perceptions.

But we know your absolutes are true, how, again?

agreed, Shade, you make a VERY good point. who says any of us are right? all we have to go on are some dusty old books and our own memories, and at times, both books and memories contradict each other. Terro, i respect you, and i think you're doing a fantastic job of research to back up everything you say, but quite frankly, you're starting to sound a little harsh, stubborn, and full of it. Just because someone's opinion clashes with yours doesn't mean you have to bash them and their ideas. Try softening up just a little bit, and allowing others their opinions, and we'll all get along just fine. And Luinbariel, you really aren't helping your situation any by being so snippy. Please try to tone it down a little, and maybe you'll get into less arguments.

I challenge you to find a post where I declared that my absolute was correct.
My raising of absolutes was to the idea of one person's "truth" being different from another, therefore having two "truths."
I'm fine with opinions, not self-contradictions.

Terro, allow me to be frank. When you speak in absolutes in discussion or debate it is assumed that one feels that those absolutes are truth. That is why you shouldn't speak in in them in these kinds of discussions or debates: Because your perception may or may not be correct. Therefore you really can't speak in absolutes...most of the time (there, as not to contradict myself, I allow for the possibility of absolutes).
You may not have directly said that your absolutes were true but the implications in your line of reasoning vrs. "pointing out contradictions" is clear. when someone states "I am Seraphim" it is based on their own understanding of the word. Just becuase it does not coincide with yours or to the texts you CHOOSE to use (as if any are totally correct) does not make it wrong. Also, when others point out valid sources, you say "that's been edited and is nonfactual". So what makes you believe that your sources aren't? Because you feel they aren't? If so then you're the same as the rest of us in that.
