Karma is basically a rating system that I heavily disagree with.
It is a feature of proboards in which any user may "exalt" to raise another's karma rating (for reasons of good posting, something profound or intelligent or usually something very humorous), or to "smite" and thereby detract from another's karma rating (for reasons of poor posting, rule breaking or in many cases a misinterpretation and attempt to hurt another's reputation).

stars are a thing from proboards like an icon that goes with the user title (new member) etc
