Note: I posted this here cause it involves two types of otherkin. Theory: Dragons are angels or decendants of angels Supporting evidence: 1. It has been mentioned that some people feel a connection between dragons and angels previously by dragons 2. Seraphim comes from the hebrew word saraph which, as a noun, is a fiery, flying serpent creature. 3. In Greek scriptures Seraphim are referred to as "drakones" which is what the word dragon evolved from (drakones->dracones->dragones->dragon) It is my hypothesis that 'spirit' dragons are actually a subsuit of Seraphim that are given domain over the elements, or possibly the spiritual children of seraphim. Earthbound dragons quite possibly being decendants of the Nephilim who were fathered by Seraphim Grigori. The Nephilim were described as giants, but this is (apparently) not their defining charactaristic. They also supposedly had a voracious hunger, which is another attribute often ascribed to dragons. Article courtisey of Olpirtod on AnimeSpiritGuide. I placed it in this forum for the game reasons as Olpirotd. much love to the man.

Interesting theory (though I don't really agree with it on most points) I have noticed that dragons and angels seem to make excellent pairs. Maybe I should look into one (though generally male dragons tend to be a bit too...sappy for my tastes, especially water/air elementals).

the real connection is deeper than the word Seraphim. The connections seem to go back to even forms taken by Angels (it is said that when Morning Star was cast out, he took the form of a great dragon. The Archangel Raphael is believed to take the form of a golden dragon when leading souls through a labyrinth).
Dragons and Angels are the two culturally universal beings on Earth. Every major culture has an instance or mythos about both.
As far as Dragons and Angels getting along, I heartily disagree with that. Dragons are loners, and very ungregarious with their fellow Dragons. The hoarding of objects, knowledge and people seems to go against a lot of the concept of sharing one's gifts and knowledge or even the push against materialism at the basic levels.

I think it depends on the dragon and the angel involved. I've met some really mellow dragons and some really, really stereotypical ones (and vice versa with angels). I have a serpentine form but i equate that not with a "dragon" form but more a weaver form, as I gained that state later in life.

yes there are examples that are outside the stereotype, however on the broad scale they are not really as similar as the origin of words would claim.

I have to agree that it really depends on the dragon/angel you meet; I think stereotypes are really dangerous, and give out the wrong image/idea.
You seem to have a lot of knowledge on the dragon side of things, Terro, but where does it come from? Is it personal experience, or what?

I'm dating a dragon who has every dragon book you can find, and has read them all at least twice...
Say the word Dragon in any form of question and she just starts streaming information as if reciting a detailed research paper... I just started to pick up a lot of it.

Hm. I'd rather read the books myself, personally. That's like being a expert by proxy.

I don't really care all that much... I'm just trying to point out that questioning where things come from is a good idea, even if the info comes from someone you love/like/whatever.
All I originally wanted to know was where you got the information from; then I stated, upon having an answer to my question, that I would rather, in your situation (which it seems I failed to mention) read them myself.
So relax, I don't need a list.

*hoses* -_- calm down.
I can back up Terro on the eastern dragon info as having taken kung fu for a while, and studying the dragon fist style I heard stories from my Sijou. I've also seen several stories on them on the History Channel. thier scientific explaination for the universal nature of dragons it quite interesting, but far fetched. They think that early men all over the world actually found dinosaur bones just liing around and that's where dragons came from.

in some form or another. Another popular source was volcanoes, believing that a great fire breathing beast dwell within was commonplace among tribal Humans around Volcanoes.

A little aside, a neat idea of how the Greeks invented the Cyclops:
On a remote Island off the coast of Greece there was a terrible earthquake split up the mountains. Within these mountains lied thousands and thousands of mastodon bones. The way the skull of a mastodon looks (with its horns broken off in the quake) looks similarly to a human skull with one eye. The rest of the bone structure resembles a man's as well.
I think scientists think early civilizations had similar things happen with dinosaur bones.

BTW My ex and thrid best freind is a dragon. and he is so social, that he would make a cheer leader look like a loner. plus my one friend on that form is a seraphim married to a dragon. they get along greatly, and guess what? they share everything. yes it depends on the angel and dragon. most of the draconics I know are all very sociable and well rounded.
