Relative new to this have more expirience with planewalking and pathwalking in general.
How I understood the bit of information that I was told in the shamanic worldview there are three worlds:
- The lower worlds where animals guides are.
- The middel world or a shadow reflection of the world we live in.
- The higher world that is pretty much all spiritual stuff and very complicate full of politics and war.
Well I wil only speak about a journey into the lower worlds as this is the easiest and best for any beginners I think. The reason for a person to go there is to find hir own power-animal.
I guess sort of the animal that represents the strength and abilities that are best for our current situation as well as that resembles our current nature the most.
If a power animal of a person is wounded that migth significantly weaken this person.
As prepartion for a journey into the lower world one needs a hole that bores straight into the ground - so that a person will basicly fall down - and which end is not visible to the person (i.e. a well is ideal, a cave which is enshrounded). Also possible is a cave in which on pathway goes down then the starting point of the journey will be where it goes down. Overall any whole that is not bigger then 2x2 meter can be used, bigger wholes are hard to navigate and not get stuck in the middel of the way.
Essential is that a person knows where is hole is and how to get there and can imagine it vividly. To start the journey a person builds up a lot of energy through a powerfull dancing, enough energy is when you sweat, feel like burning, and every step like walking on sharp stone.
When having enough energy the person lays down visualises the hole hir's choosen and jumps in. The way is down, if the tunnel starts go sideways or horizontal this is not the way. Always down. If the tunel ends start digging down until it a long tunnel into the earth appears and float down.
If done correctly you will arrive in a landscape. Walk around there and eventually you will sooner or later encounter an animal. If it appears 4 times or stick around you then ask it if it is your power animal however if not wantig to venture too deep into those things just a cheaper life coaching then don't choose an animal that is most active at night, no reptiles or amphibians as those are too far from us away to be guides, no sharks or other cold blood killers, no animals concerned with carrion (mice, rats, vultures), and no mythical animals oh and no insects.
I appoint this to the fact that this is shamanism light i.e. for averange person that just wants a to deal with as those beings confront us with our jungian shadow, teach us how to be sociopathic or psychopathic, animals concerned with carrion I think force us to face up with all the corpses in our closet and last but not least mythological beings bring us in contact with deeper archetypical energies that might influence us more then we might be able to handle or influence us against what seems good and reasonable for society (I've been toying with dragons on a half shamanic basis and in so far have my expirience with them) and on insects I just say it's like trying to toy with a Tsunami, you will definitly get yourself astral bruises to use an euphemism (plus eventually running one week around in the flat to find out where all those moths are coming from.)
[Suprise, suprise an alternative practioneer was somewhat discontent of the idea of spiritual beings incarnating among humans or in her words: "What would they want here? They shouldn't bother us down here, and nicely stay up there." Well tried to explain it with holidays but didn't realy want to believe me.]
The spirits will reply to questions in three way: speaking, gestures or sending telepathical a infomation packet.
In so far encountering an animal that fits all the above ask it if it is your power animal, if it answers yes it is your power animal then tell it that you accept this. If it answers no then ask it if it is able to guide or show the way to your power animal.
The positive side about those spirit guides is that they can only answer with yes or no and will be honest, not brutally but blunt in a nice way. The downside they have no understanding of higher concepts like love or society norms. So asking such an animal if a person is a good mate will always get you a yes for a woman when being a man, or yes for a man if you are a woman.
Ask the questions that you need answers. And when having gotten those return the way you came through and to your body.
Keep in mind the above is not to get lost in magical reality, but the have a fourth instance for decisions. So if you don't have a question or nothing urgent and everything is fine and dandy there is no need to go on such a journey.
For those that can't project out of body the normal way (pathwalker and eventually a lot of kins who's soul would instantly decide to leave the physical body if going back) this seems to be possible if they get used to be aware of the physical world and at the same time of the spiritual world me thinks. Can be done alone but still it is more fun to do this together with additional people.
Well nothing new overall, however with added information I've been not entirely aware so far.
