Considering that the size of an angels wings denote age and rank, would azure's wings be generally pretty small?

Angels that young probably wouldn't even have them, if they did it'd be little more than a feathered nub, not capable of bestowing flight.

I actually see them...as really small bird sized wings, kind of like the ones you see depicted on small baby cherubs. Though I don't think wings that small will help you fly but the will adiquetly protect your core.

that's only if they can wrap around to do something.
It's a few centuries before an Angel has wings big enough to even flap.

I think it depends on how you're taught to core defend. My top set of wings (which I'm supposed to hide my face with) actually are normally pinned VERY close to my back to protect and stableize my energy. (also when flying they sort of act like ruttters to steer in difficult "winds"). When I rarely take them out, my energy gets all wibbly and etc. So even small wings would be able to give some coverage even if they're not big enough to wrap around a core I'd think.

As far as I've ever seen and believed, the six winged Seraphim form is completely apart from the "Man with wings" form. The Seraphim consists of six wings and a floating pair of eyes, sometimes a set of arms.
Wings aren't really necessary for flight, but you can't fly until your wings are big enough to support you... one of those symbolism things I believe.

I think it depends on the seraph. I mean when you're an angel you can really choose to look anyway you want. Apparently the Cherubym have the head of a man, a lion, and a goat all at the same time. And sometime, apparently, Seraphim are snake like things made of fire. And I agree with the symbolism of wings...flapping all those wings would be annoying and cumbersome.

There's a degree of how an Angel wishes to appear, but then there is the inevitability of the Angel's true form. In my recollections, the Seraphim is the only choir in which all members have the exact same type of true form.
Additionally in the man with wings form, there are definite things about the appearance of the Angel, especially when it comes to arms and armor. Not everyone gets a sword of flames, and not everyone gets armor fit for Michael.

I Agree. Though I must say when all my wings are open my "humanoid form" is totally lost. I look more like a nebula with wings and eyes, and that could just be my mortal equivalent of my true form so that my human mind doesn't explode. Though I will have to diverge with you on the armor, in that its less about Angelic rank to have armor than it is one's job. Angels that don't deal with the protecting of heaven don't NEED the grand armor of Michael, as they do not fight most often (unless you know full out war on heaven) but how often does that happen? I know my armor is minimal and only really manifests when I absolutely need it. And in this life I have many "warrior class angels" who are my friends and protectors here. I'm very greatful to them, but becuase of their presence I rarely need armor. Good thing too, becuase unless God steps in, I'm a sucky fighter.

Every Angel is a warrior, like every marine is a rifleman.
Age, rank and preference determine the type of armor one carries. Those that have purposes that keep them away from most fights don't prefer heavy plate type armors, but that doesn't mean they have lesser quality armors, just lighter ones. Reference the crimson chain mail that Uriel is depicted with.

Every Angel is a warrior, like every marine is a rifleman. Heh, still, I suck at combat xD. One thing I do notice about my armor (when it decides to show itself) is that I only have a chest plate and LARGE shoulder plates (kind of ornate buggers) They're one price of solid gold colored material, which kind of resemble choral. I also have large wrist protectors too as well as a re-enforced back thing, situated in my lumbar area. Other than that no tummy, foot, hand, head armor that I've yet to find. What sort of armor do you have?

I'm very Roman, I take it that I am one who's more often in the fight than not in the fight. Usually I will wear my robes (more long a long tunic) that are scarlet red and a very large pauldron and gauntlet on me left arm. The gauntlet itself is a weapon due to its mass. I bear a long curved knife holstered in the small of my back with the handle to be drawn by my right hand. Only in the event of someone worthy would I draw the steel that hangs at my left hip. It is a hand and a half length double edged sword, leather wrapped handle, golden round pommel and straight bar golden handguard, the blade is mirrored and glows very brightly when I choose to encircle the blade with flames.
For actual battle, the armor resembles a Roman Cuirass of gold except with a lot of sliding parts allowing a great freedom of mobility and a low convex collar around three quarters of my neck. I have a pauldron and armor on both shoulders and arms respectively (though the left is noticeably larger still than the right pauldron and gauntlet), an armored skirt and high greaves. I have armored plates that fasten around my quads and plates surrounding my feet under the greaves. hanging out from most of the armor you can see the fine chain mail that is underneath the plate. Under the armor and the chain there are the robes and pads to keep a barrier between skin and armor, the cloth is scarlet red, all of the armor is a bright shining gold with silver rivets where needed.

*whistles* that is some hard core gear ^^. Lets just say its better I not fight...You know that one guy who sucks so bad that he accidentally takes out a large portion of his own team? Yeah I'm that guy...hence why when I asked God to be changed he didn't hesitate (based on my new understanding of myself, still ironing the kinks out as always). When I became "Helena Prince" I got MUCH more armor in that form as I asked to be one of the "beautiful warriors". Armor in that form though was more Joan of Arc era rather than roman (like this: www.stjoanlisle.org/images/St%20Joan%20statue.JPG ). I had a rather large broad sword that, while it wasn't flaming, was white hot to the touch. The armor itself was blue and gold and I did not wear any cloth skirts or anything when I fought.

(since this became about armor) Mine was more like what Terro described, except no scarlet robes or anything of the color and a little less heavy on the top half, more chainmail, the weapons were really similar too except my double edged flamer was just a tad bit longer than two hand lengths (but I've got small hands).
